[4180]

Trying to decrypt LDAPS traffic to an ADLDS server. After 30-40 minutes of decrypting the 764 frames, the resultant capture file doesn't have properly decrypted traffic. The "decrypted" capture is only readable in WireShark, and is only readable if WireShark is configured with the private key. Other traces attempted aborted partway through the decryption.

Has LDAPS been tested or been known to work?

This is the x64 version of NM 3.3, with the 2131 parsers.
Comments:
This should be filed with the actual Expert's site, this tracker is for our SDK.

I copied the bug already here: http://nmdecrypt.codeplex.com/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=7625

The decryption expert only works on SSL/TLS at the moment. I updated our main page with the info. Sorry for the confusion.

Closed Issue: Doesn't Work on LDAPS? As turnaround, some (WireShark) experts suggest to use the Microsoft Loopback Adapter. In Wireshark, this allows to see broadcast traffic, but not local traffic event between to IP addresses set in the MS Loopback Adapter. In general, Network Monitor (and WrieShark) doesn't allow to see self addressed traffic.
Is it possible to capture Loopback traffic? And further self addressed traffic?

I wrote a BACnet Parser.
Comments:
Hi Pgoetz,

The Microsoft Loopback Adapter indeed has limited capabilities and it's not currently possible for Network Monitor to capture direct loopback traffic. This is something we are aware of though, but this isn't the right forum to address it. This is specifically for issues related to our Experts SDK.

We already have a bug on our connect site here: https://connect.microsoft.com/feedback/SearchResults.aspx?SearchQuery=loopback&SiteID=216 (you'll need to sign-in).

For your BACnet Parser, you'll want to issue a request at http://nmparsers.codeplex.com/

Thanks

Created Issue: Network Monitor and Microsoft Loopback Adapter

It is know that the loopback address aka 127.0.0.1 cannot be sniffed on Windows.
